A view into my life for 90 days. 80 days left

8. Prostate Complications

Novo Ogaryevo - 21/11 2220 10:10

Taking off from Novo Ogaryevo. We fly low over the Moscow river The autumn sun is rising in the east casting glittering fire on the water.

Eleven other black Mi-8 helicopters have joined us, making us a squadron and serving the double purpose of defending from any potential attackers- and being decoys for any random missile attack. The thought of Ukraine managing to hit my helicopter makes me shudder. Not for myself but for Russia. The thought of what this country would do without me almost breaks my heart.

I look out through the window. I try to convince myself that I should be happy. At this beautiful moment, I am at the centre of the world. The faith of millions is in my hands. I have shouldered a responsibility unknown to man. But I am not happy. All I can think about is whether I should have urinated before we took off.

Prostate complications as the doctor called it. Never sickness. Never disease. Always ”Oсложнения”.“Complications”. My thoughts are interrupted by a crackle on the Intercom.
